How Counselling Helps with Anxiety

In our sessions, we won’t just focus on managing your symptoms – although that matters too. We’ll explore what your anxiety is really about. Often, anxiety is connected to deeper questions: fears about the future, a sense of not being in control, unresolved experiences from the past, or the pressure of trying to live up to expectations that don’t feel like your own.

My approach is rooted in existential therapy, which means we’ll look at your anxiety in the context of your whole life – your relationships, your values, your sense of who you are. This isn’t about giving you a set of coping strategies and sending you on your way. It’s about helping you understand yourself more deeply so that the anxiety loosens its grip.

That said, you’ll also develop practical tools along the way. Many clients find that once they understand the root of their anxiety, the day-to-day management becomes much easier.

What to Expect in an Anxiety Counselling Session

Sessions are 50 minutes, held weekly via secure video call. There’s no script and no rigid structure – we work with whatever feels most important to you in that moment.

In the early sessions, I’ll want to understand your experience of anxiety: when it started, what triggers it, how it affects your daily life, and what you’ve tried so far. From there, we’ll begin to explore the patterns underneath.

You’re always in control of the pace. There’s no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready.

What You Might Gain from Therapy

Every person’s experience is different, but clients often describe feeling less overwhelmed by worry, more able to tolerate uncertainty, a clearer sense of what’s actually driving their anxiety, greater confidence in their own decisions, and a feeling of being more present in their lives rather than constantly bracing for the worst.

Why Choose Online Counselling for Anxiety?

Online therapy means you can access support from the privacy and comfort of your own home. There’s no need to travel, sit in a waiting room, or take extra time off work. For many people with anxiety, this actually makes therapy easier – the familiar surroundings help you feel safer and more at ease.

Research consistently shows that online counselling is just as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety. I work with clients across the UK, so wherever you are, support is available.

Understanding Anxiety

Online Anxiety Counselling UK – Compassionate Support from Home

Compassionate online counselling for anxiety with a BACP accredited psychotherapist. A safe, supportive space to understand what’s driving your anxiety and find a way forward.

Anxiety can show up in many different ways. You might experience constant worry that you can’t switch off, a racing mind that keeps you awake at night, a tight chest or churning stomach, a sense of dread about the future, or the feeling that something terrible is about to happen even when you can’t say what.

Sometimes anxiety is triggered by something specific – a health scare, a relationship breakdown, work pressure, or a major life change. Other times, it seems to come from nowhere, leaving you wondering why you can’t just “calm down” like everyone else seems to.

Whatever form your anxiety takes, it’s real, it’s exhausting, and you don’t have to manage it alone.
